BI10 Getting to Know God

This course is a basic and introductory systematic theology course. Very often people think the word “theology” is a silver dollar word that is only for professional clergy and ministers and is irrelevant for everyone else. However, the truth is that every person is a theologian. The first half of theology is “theos,” which means god in Greek. The suffix “logy,” means “the study of,” so theology literally means “the study of God." Everyone has beliefs about God and how we relate to him, and what we believe about God will shape the way we behave in every sphere of our lives. This course will give you an introductory study of the truths of God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and more, so that you can live in a biblically informed way.

By the end of this 4-lesson course, participants will be able to:

1. Articulate an understanding of the Christian doctrines of God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.

2. Evaluate the truth of both natural and specific revelation.

3. Describe a foundational understanding of the doctrine of the Trinity and its critical relevance in the entirety of Christian belief.

4. Explain the personal nature of the knowledge of God

5. Be able to explain the relevance of each doctrine to the Christian’s everyday life.

By the end of this study, you will have a clear, 6-month roadmap for your growth. You will be better equipped to refute cultural ideas that contradict the Gospel and more effective at helping others grow in their own faith through discipleship.  This 4-lesson intensive is designed to move participants through the three pillars of the Kingdom Readiness Assessment, culminating in a concrete "Next Steps" action plan.
