This 4-lesson Bible study explores the vision of Jesus for His church as revealed in the New Testament and explained in Elmer Towns’ I Am Jesus, Let’s Change the World. Participants will learn how the church grows exponentially, fulfills its mission through witnessing and teaching, serves the world in love, and embodies Christ’s expectations and biblical pictures. The study challenges participants to embrace their role in multiplying disciples and changing the world through Christ.
By the end of the course, you should:
1. Understand the biblical vision of an exponential, Spirit-empowered church.
2. Identify key characteristics of a witnessing, teaching, and serving church.
3. Explain Christ’s expectations for His church and the biblical images that illustrate its mission.
4. Apply principles from the early church to their personal discipleship and local church involvement.
5. Commit to living as part of Jesus’ exponential movement that changes the world.
This isn't just a history lesson on the Book of Acts; it is a strategic roadmap for your spiritual life. By the end of these four lessons, you will walk away with:
A Shift in Perspective: You’ll move from seeing the church as a local organization to seeing it as a Spirit-empowered, exponential movement that you are personally a part of.
The "Witnessing" Toolkit: You will learn how the early church balanced teaching, serving, and witnessing to create a culture that people couldn't help but notice.
Clarity on Identity: By exploring the biblical images of the church—such as the Body of Christ or the Bride—you’ll better understand what Jesus actually expects from you.
A Personal Mission: You won’t just leave with notes; you’ll leave with a commitment. You will gain the practical principles needed to apply the "early church" fire to your modern-day discipleship and local church involvement.
You are not just called to follow; you are Called to Multiply.
In many corners of the modern world, the church is often viewed as a static institution—a place we go or a service we attend. But Jesus never intended for His followers to simply maintain a building or a weekend schedule. He envisioned a movement.
When Jesus said, "I will build my church," He wasn't talking about brick and mortar; He was talking about a living, breathing, exponential force fueled by the Holy Spirit. Based on the insights of Elmer Towns’ I Am Jesus, Let’s Change the World, this study was created because there is a profound difference between addition and multiplication. Adding members is fine, but multiplying disciples is what changes the world.
We live in a time of great need, and the "why" behind this course is simple: The world doesn't need more spectators; it needs participants who understand their DNA as world-changers. We are looking back at the "biblical pictures" of the New Testament church to find the blueprint for our future.
